Painting Breaks

The great variety of things to draw and paint in and around Tortworth Court makes it an ideal setting for our Painting Breaks. The hotel boasts an arboretum, garden, long distance vistas and wonderful Victorian architecture. If the weather is inclement we will have a dedicated light and airy room as a studio.

Ronald Swanwick is an accomplished and versatile artist who teaches with authority in a wide variety of mediums. Enthusiastic and with a real passion for teaching, he has a wicked and infectious sense of humour.

Painting Break

Monday 2 August - Thursday 10 August

£445 per person

There is no set agenda for this break. We discuss at the start what you want to achieve and then make a plan for the three days. On the first evening, prompted by our discussions, I will do a demonstration. You can work in any medium and there will be a lot of one to one tuition. You will be able to work in a large light studio or in the extensive grounds and arboretum of the hotel. Even abstract painters will find lots to stimulate in this environment

Watercolour Landscapes

Friday 20 August - Sunday 22 August 

£299 per person

The hotel is a perfect venue for landscape painting, with everything from wonderful trees to vista views. The extensive gardens offer grand views or lots of nooks and crannies. I will cover ideas on composition, colour mixing and theory and how to do a very quick watercolour sketch.

Prices are based on two people sharing a twin/double room.  Maximum numbers do apply.
